Elli Fordyce: Music
- "Songs Spun of Gold"
Jazz vocal phenom Elli Fordyce's latest album, "Songs Spun of Gold," exhibits an even cooler Fordyce than the one heard on the album's predecessor "Something Still Cool." Songs like "Let's Get Lost" and "Desafinado" and a medley for "A Child is Born" and "Waltz for Debby" prompted jazz critic Curtis Davenport to write:
"Ms. Fordyce and her career are in the midst of a life affirming springtime." Mark Saleski of Jazz.com wrote, "Fordyce's band plays with a low and sultry swing as she sings of the many traps of love." And George Fendel of Jazz Society of Oregon wrote "Her easygoing style is easy to like, especially on the laid-back bossa delivery of 'Desafinado,' and the plaintive ballad 'Softly, As I Leave You.'"

- "Something Still Cool"
"Something Still Cool" is Elli Fordyce's comeback album after being out of the music business for fifteen years. At seventy, Elli Fordyce is smooth, laid back and yes, undeniably cool on "Something Still Cool." As Michael Macomber said at DarinLand.com, "Elli has fought her way back to where she belongs, onstage, singing jazz." http://bit.ly/fKNLSN
"The reviews are in for 'Something Still Cool,'" Christine McBurney wrote for Heights Observer, "and they are hot." To wit: "Fordyce has developed a subtle style that draws from June Christy and other cool singers of the 1950s."—Ken Dryden, AllMusic. "Something" tells me you are in for a special treat. Joe Montagua, Jazz Review.
