It will be at the scenic pier on the Hudson next to 71 Grant Street. In case of rain, It will be under the pier. This will be the umpteenth time we've been back at The Pizza Place in Yonkers, over which time [Toggle Editor]owner/musician Ronny Masciandaro has turned his dream of having a jazz venue into reality. He's had so much more of a following and so much higher standard for performing than in the first 2 years of Thurs. jazz evenings that he's committed to going through his first winter this year. We were happy to be part of that new policy on 1/28th and can't wait to return on 6/3. Hope y'all can join us.

This is a belated CD-release event but since we didn't schedule it for 2009, we're not calling it "CD-release." We're really looking forward to our first time at The Metropolitan Room and to this terrific band, most of whom were in the studio for "Songs Spun of Gold" (notable exceptions being the exceptional Ratzo Harris on bass and Joe Magnarelli on flugel horn and trumpet). Hope you can join us.

After a series of successful gigs at this musician-owned venue, The Elli Fordyce Trio is returning, featuring Joe Tranchina (piano) and Eric Lemon (bass) and frequent surprise guests. Elli, fresh from the announcement that her 2nd CD, Songs Spun of Gold made the Grammy pre-nomination lists in 6 categories, is ready to go and looking forward to seeing many of you!
The evening was swapped for 1/28/10 and we had a packed house. A terrific article had come out in LoHud.com a few days before and Ronny had a bunch of folks call and come by that night, along with a huge party of BMW bike riders. The first set was pretty noise with our bike folks, but the second set had calmed down and Joe Tranchina (piano), Ratzo Harris (bass), Jim Malloy and Nicole Pasternak sitting in with vocals, and I, all had a great time musically. We'll be back for my day-after-birthday bash on 4/1 (yup, the big 7 3). See you then.
After a series of successful gigs at The Pizza Place, the Yonkers Downtown Waterfront District's weekly jazz hangout, owner and musician, Ronnie, happily rebooked The Elli Fordyce Trio with Joe Tranchina on piano and Eric Lemon on bass, as a frequent regular. Elli's 2nd CD, we're happy to say, made it to the prenomination level of the Grammys in 6 categories (mainly jazz-vocal related).

This is our first gig at The Pizza Place, a block from the apartment I moved to last July from the city. Every Thursday evening, The Pizza Place becomes a musicians'/jazz-lovers' hang where owner Ronnie Masciandaro (himself a Berklee-trained jazz pianist) has created his wonderful shop to, serve the freshest homemade food (WAY more than pizza) around a Spinet Piano, which is displayed prominently in the window. Ronnie loves to give musicians another venue in which to play, folks more to do in Yonkrs' Downtown Waterfront District and, of course, bring new customers in for the tasty jazz and jazzy food. We (Elli Fordyce, vocals, Joe Tranchina, keyboard/piano and Eric Lemon, bass) hope to see you and to return to The Pizza Place often to play as well as for Ronnie's food (check out the salads and soups, Elli's favorites). NOTE: The Pizza Place is CASH ONLY (with bank ATMs next door and across-the-street) and BYOB (if you do so, there will be a $5 corking charge). The Metro North Station is also across-the-street and Yorkers is 1/2 hour from Grand Central, a good part of which is along the scenic Hudson with a great view of the Palisades. So you don't have to be from around Yonkers nor drive to join us on the 21st. Psst, please tell friends.
Ronnie Masciandaro (himself a Berklee-trained jazz pianist) enjoyed the music so much that when I came back after the gig to pick up my stuff and said I was glad he liked it, he yelled across the empty store, "No, I LOVED it!" and kept raving about all the ways he was pleased. Great to hear after we'd discussed my doing something there for 10 months. He even threw in a little from his pocket to pay his max allotment for Thursday jazz and rebooked us for Thursday, June 18th. During the evening, Joe's wife, singer Gabrielle Tranchina, sat in, doing a lovely Brazilian bossa nova in Portugese and when I had to leave 10 minutes early for an interview, rather than the guys playing out the set, she pinch-hit for me on vocals. A lucky "accident."
Join Joe Tranchina on keyboard and Elli Fordyce for jazz vocals at this lovely art gallery which opened last month for the opening of it's unusual second exhibit opening. This exhibit is called Show and Tell and will feature artist demonstration from May 16 though June 27, 2009 so please join us and tell your friends.
Every Sunday in May and June, swingin' vocal jazz in a lovely American-Continental restaurant with a prix fixe available for $25.
It was Mother's Day, and a lovely one for strolling the historic area. There were both New Yorkers and tourists honoring Moms (and others) who enjoyed the music. Our good friend Bob Kindred sat in on Tenor Sax during two sets. Remember we'll be here every Sunday through the end of June and hope to see you.
We had a great opening night and were immediately extended to include every Sunday in May and June for swingin' vocal jazz in a lovely American-Continental restaurant with a prix fixe available for $25.

It was a swinging evening, first time at Belle Havana. Folks turned out and unexpectedly filled this terrific small restaurant and club, were very responsive and started the buzz for future events in the area.
And the food looked, smelled and tasted fabulous!!! Highly recommended, with or without music or Elli's gig.
This is the store's annual all-day Shop For A Cause event with entertainment going on throughout the day and the store, a percentage of each purchase going to the charities as selected by Macy's getting the proceeds.
Shop For A Cause was a big success, Elli has been invited back to perform and the goodie bag she received was unbelievable!
2 sets of jazz vocals by NY's Elli Fordyce with Ed Ridley, Jr. on piano, Marty Block on bass and Roy King on drums.
The band was great, I had a wonderful time and my son, Tim Collins, long-time resident of Cleveland Heights and busy Cleveland attorney, rallied the troops and we had a terrific evening with an engaged and attentive audience and a happy promotor, Jim Wadsworth. We all hope to play Nighttown again together.

Featured were Jeremy Manasia on piano, Neal Miner on bass, Phil Stewart on drums and on alto sax and flute, Aaron Heick. Three sets were also videotaped. Watch for news on the release of the CD and accompanying DVD, we hope some time in 2008.
3 sets of mellow jazz at this lovely intimate Upper East Side restaurant.
For four Saturdays back-to-back from mid-January to February 2nd, Elli jammed with guitarist Ed MacEachen and bassist Tom Hubbard, accompanying superlative food and ambience at Kurio. Watch for a return engagement in the fall.
Intended to be a live recording, that aspect of which was postponed due to illness in the producer's family, this concert was planned to celebrate Elli's 70th birthday the day before (April Fool). Featured were Jeremy Manasia on piano, Aaron Heick on alto sax and flute, Neal Miner on bass, Joe Strasser on drums, Samuel Torres on percussion and singing on two duets in the first set, Jim Malloy. The Gallery was beautifully enhanced with posters and flower arrangements, wonderful snacks and wine were provided and a terrific audience were there to support Elli and bask in the music, all videotaped and much of which will be recorded for a CD during 2008.
